The Regular Show.
I was one of two background designers on the 8 seasons of The Regular Show.
I also worked on the various specials and the movie.
The episodes were 11 minutes and there were a lot of them.
There were so many locations that were “regular” but there were a lot of funny/absurd locations.
Here are a few of those.
The process was: draw the rough in Photo Shop, The canvas was 11”x17”. Print out the rough, then clean it up in HB pencil on 11”x17” paper. Scan it, tweak the line so that it is clear. Turn it in.
So the final image is actually rather small and simple. “regular”.
The one color piece was done by Craig Simmons. He painted almost all of my BGs.
This was the funniest show that I’ve ever worked on.
The creator of the show, JG Quintel, paid me an amazing compliment about my work: “Alex’s BGs look like someone actually lives there.”
